Going to theNetLibrary

I went to the NetLibrary and opened an account. That was very easy to do. Searching the catalog was easy, too. Trying to download an audiobook to listen to didn't work for me at all. I suspect that this was because I was trying this at the library and they system is slow and overloaded. I hope that that was the reason. I also tried the elibrary link on our catalog. Same thing. I know that I must learn how to load an e-audiobook onto some kind of device like an ipod or MP3 player, because I must. (I still don't own a computer, though I do own a big box of floppy discs.)

Guitar lessons online!

I watched YouTube videos of Segovia playing the fandango from Torroba's Suite Castellana. It was a great way to watch the Maestro's technique! Similarily, I watched Eliot Fisk play a Segovia piece! I could never get the same views watching from the front row.

Thinking about acquiring a computer

I have been thinking that even I will eventually own a computer of sorts --after I retire and have the $$$. So, I have been thinking about what kind of set up I might like to have. Certainly nothing that takes up a lot of space. I was having a
discussion with my tech-savvy friend recently about this very topic. I was thinking of buying a lap-top w/ a wireless card-- for portability. She suggested that I look at Zonbu. Wow, this was exciting because of the small size and all the good stuff that comes loaded on it for a small price. So I spent some time on the Internet looking up articles on this and what I saw was impressive. I have more research to do, since there are critiques re: slow speed, etc. Also, it appears that it would not be practical if I want something portable, though I have heard that there are folding keyboards and portable monitors ......so now I will have to look for info on these.

Flickr Fun? Not!

I am questioning the wisdom of my decision to learn Web 2.0. Dutifully, I have started my blog. Dutifully, I have tried to explore and have fun with Flickr. I have even set up a free account on Flickr and done some "exploring" . I don't have any idea of what they are talking about most of the time. I do not know the jargon and don't know what they refer to. I have no photos to upload. I haven't been able to discover from what I have read whether I can upload interesting stuff (images, photos, etc) from Internet or not, nor have I been able to find any instructions for doing so. A "mashup", Hunh??? I really am lost and confused and that is NOT fun!
